01
Hydrogen is the new diesel.
Hydrogen-fueled Heavy-Duty Vehicles (HDVs) refuel faster and have lighter on-board storage than Electric HDVs.
Fueling Time:
Electric
vs
Hydrogen or Diesel
It takes 1-2 hours to charge an Electric truck, but only 15 minutes to refuel a Hydrogen or Diesel truck.
Load Capacity:
Electric
=
Hydrogen or Diesel
Onboard Hydrogen storage weighs significantly less than battery energy storage. For HDV’s requiring longer range, battery weight can significantly reduce payload capacity due to vehicle weight limits. In some cases, you would need 4 Electric trucks to deliver the payload of 3 Diesel or Hydrogen trucks.
02
Hydrogen is more expensive than it needs to be.
-
Clean hydrogen is still expensive due to small-scale production and operations.
-
Current fueling station designs rely on legacy design assumptions, driving up costs.
-
Liquid hydrogen stations suffer from 'boil-off,' where up to half of the delivered hydrogen is lost, doubling the potential cost.
